Description
Lead and manage IT staff and resources in accordance with IT Business Plan. Lead and manage IT projects and associated system integrators to deliver projects of medium to high complexity. Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards. Develop project requirements, budgets and schedules, facilitate requirements gathering. Establish milestones, anticipate issues and monitor adherence to project scope, requirements and design document, schedules. Ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget and that all deliverables are of the highest quality
Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis, escalate risks as appropriate.
Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quartile cost and performance levels.
Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions to deliver business results.
Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.
Qualifications
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline and at least 8 years’ experience in area of project management; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing IT infrastructure projects or programs
- Experience leading and managing technical personnel, including employees and contractors
- Financial acumen and experience in managing project and operational budgets
- Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in area of specialty
- Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills and excellent analytical ability
- Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT & business management and with vendors
- Appropriate technical skills
Preferred:
- Graduate degree in Project Management, Informational Systems, Computer Science or Business Administration
- Experience in fiber optic, data networking or telecommunication projects
- Experience in the electric utility industry or telecom industry
- Agile project management experience and/or either of the following certifications: PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) ®
POSITION SCOPE:
- Total Staff Managed: 5 to 20 (direct, indirect, and project team)
- Accountable for project planning & project delivery, managing scope/schedule/budget to deliver the project. Communicates with multiple levels of business and IT management on project status, risk, issues, and decisions.
- Manages technical/business complexity and risk in a business-critical program
- Make judicious decisions in familiar and new situations and contributes to strategic decisions
- Represent IT to the combined IT/business project team, advocates for the project within broader IT org
- Budget Management for multiple projects specific to area of accountability.
- Operate independently with little or no supervision.
- Reports to Senior Manager or Director
