What You’ll Get to Do:
The Head of Infrastructure and Tools will work in a small team of backend service engineers to manage and build out the AWS infrastructure to support the company. You are expected to be a hands-on lead DevOps who excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment building high quality, high performance and scalable software. You will be expected to work equally between design, hands-on development, and providing mentorship to other DevOps engineers within the organization. You will have ownership to build and grow the team from scratch.
- Drive adoption of CI/CD, deployment automation, and release engineering standard methodologies
- Provide technical direction and manage DevOps resources on technical projects, mentoring team members and guiding and resolving any problems as they arise
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, engineering teams and analysts to develop strategic road-maps for the company
- Craft clear documentation on policies and process leaning towards a self-provisioning model for service requirements including data stores
- Manage the cost and expenditure for services while setting up service infrastructure
- Designing and enforcing best practices and standards for new application services
- Work as a member of feature teams to deliver on the infrastructure portion of the feature/product
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, PM and UX teams
- Own and manage productivity SAAS such as G Suite and Atlassian services
- Evaluate and incorporate new cloud services as and when appropriate
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred; or equivalent experience
- Have 3+ years of engineering management experience and 10+ years overall software engineering experience
- Have a deep understanding of Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Docker, Helm, Prometheus, Itsio, Grafana
- Have advanced experience with AWS. Experience of GCP and/or Azure is a plus
- Hands-on experience leading and driving a DevOps and/or InfoSec team in a SaaS, Software or Cloud environment, including AWS and/or GCP
- Strong organizational skills and an entrepreneurial drive with a history of hiring and developing high-performing teams
- Comfortable in a fast-paced startup culture where there is ambiguity and constant change
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and a strong sense of diplomacy in all interactions, a self-starter who can gain support from a variety of stakeholders.
