We’re looking for a Head of Audio to join our team. The Head of Audio will be accountable for the craft and culture of the audio discipline, including sound design, music, and voice over.
Responsibilities:
- This position reports to the Vice President of Production and oversees audio operations across the studio. Work closely with game teams, disciplines, and audio team to ensure products have the required resources
- Develop a dynamic, but coherent cross project audio strategy and alignment
- Manage the workload and schedules for internal and external content creators
- Hire and acquire talent for the Audio department according to workload
- Communicate regularly with the game teams and embrace their intent for the player experience, aiding the teams’ audio leads in staying aligned with this experience
- Support and manage career growth of the talent within the Audio department
- Promote audio team culture, connection, activities, and health within the team and across the studio
- Align and adjust team roles and structures to provide stability across the audio discipline, but also remain flexible to serve the studio’s needs
- Organize a growing audio team workload and help drive strong production pipelines and standards
- Govern budgets for audio headcount, equipment, and external vendors
- Prioritize, budget and plan audio tech and tools
- Coordinate non-game project needs, including Marketing, trade shows, and community engagement efforts
- Understand studio-wide goals and manage audio priorities to get the most from tight schedules and limited resources
- Advocate for the audio department and ensure it has all necessary resources
- Recognize audio- and game-team dependencies, complexities, and risks, and escalate/engage them, as needed, toward resolution
- Meet with Audio Leads together once a week to manage internal resource needs
- Meet with Audio Directors weekly to develop concrete actions essential for advancing game productions and audio team development
- Meet with Game Directors and Game Leads groups on an as-needed basis to facilitate Audio Lead’s visions/needs
- Meet with executives to facilitate studio and project directions and needs
What will help you be successful in this role?
- 10+ years experience in video game development with multiple titles shipped
- 10+ years in a leadership role
- Experience with Wwise and game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Strong communication skills and the ability to negotiate on behalf the audio teams needs
- A desire to continuously learn new technologies, new methodologies, and keep up with the latest industry news and innovations
