We are looking for a Director – Commodity Operations, to join our Supply Chain & Operations Management (SCOM). This position will be responsible for managing the planning and hub related resources that drive our world wide supply chain. The Director of Commodity Operations will contribute to defining key processes, systems and tools as well has driving our regional hub processes, to assure supply and visibility across all nodes within our framework. This includes managing our Planning and Hub Operations teams for these commodities as well as providing leadership across multiple stakeholders to drive operations principles with our Sourcing, Engineering and Delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage team of 5-6 responsible for the planning of commodity supply (CPU, GPU, SSD, DIMM and HDD), as well as our Hub Operations team.
- Manage metrics including days of supply, E&O, shortages within lead time and inventory exposure at each supplier to improve performance.
- Define and implement our overall supply management strategy to increase available supply, mitigate E&O risk and assure clear visibility into supply availability.
- Work with Supply Chain, and Capacity Planning teams on the timing and availability of product transitions in order to plan for platform end of life (minimizing E&O inventory) and ramp of new platforms
- Define inventory buffer targets (in conjunction with Component Planning) and strategies based on historical usage and forecast, and define financial risk/liability associated with said buffers
- Travel to suppliers twice per year and support MSFT Sourcing with supply capability feedback and scorecard performance.
- Perform scenario analysis to understand impact of component shortages, demand upside/downside, etc. to Supply Plan of Record
- Drive implementation of new hubs to support our regional supply plan. This includes defining operation requirements, systems requirements and overall process from planning to receipt to shipment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10+ years in demand and/or supply planning, preferably in an OEM/ODM/CM supply chain
- Bachelor’s degree required (BS/MS in business, supply chain, operations management, economics or engineering preferred)
Other Qualifications:
- Capable of performing complex data analysis to identify problems or opportunities to improve supply chain performance
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and logistic
- Experience managing a high-performance team
- Direct experience in electronics assembly and server industry.
- Masters in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
- Proven track record in delivering change, process improvement, and lean manufacturing
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems, including material planning specific software such as Rapid Response by Kinaxis
- Expert level with MS Office Applications, focus on Excel
- Possess business acumen, able to think and plan strategically, and also able to execute tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal & presentational skills
- Results orientated with strong analytical and problem resolution skills
- Ability to work under continual deadline constraints
- Strong process/system background and proven capability to rapidly understand, use and drive improvements in new processes/systems
- Strong critical thinking and ability to drive resolution in ambiguous situations
