The Vice President, Safety and Security serves as the senior leader of the safety and security division for the Loews Hotels & Co portfolio. This role will have strategic oversight of all safety and security initiatives in an effort to ensure that guests and Team Members are provided a safe and secure environment that is aligned with expectations of luxury hospitality. This includes developing and executing strategic plans to enhance existing property performance and planning of new hotel openings with the following areas of focus: crisis management, technology, emergency response and preparedness, fire and life safety, training and communication, Worker’s Compensation, and other vital areas related to the safety & security function.
JOB SPECIFIC
- Serves as the subject matter expert, strategic partner and source of credible sound advice and counsel to all Loews Hotels & Co stakeholders in the area of hospitality safety and security.
- Guides the development and implementation of portfolio-wide safety and security policies, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance for the protection of Loews Hotels & Co with a focus on maintaining established hospitality service standards.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development, execution and measurement of safety and security guest service standards to ensure optimal service delivery in alignment with Loews Hotels & Co standards.
- Identifies emerging hospitality-focused safety and security policies and/or trends to proactively mitigate potential risks and organizational impact.
- Liaises with the Chief Information Officer as it relates to cyber security risks and impacts.
- Partners with risk management and other designated stakeholders on the development and execution of business continuity strategies in response to safety and security events.
- Participates and often leads the management of emergency and incident response, crisis management, and life safety for the entire hotel portfolio.
- Advises the Loews Hotels & Co Risk Counsel on current and future major safety and security risk points to the organization. Develops and executes strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Provides organizational guidance to optimize safety and security strategies and programming through the current growth trajectory of Loews Hotels & Co.
- Partners with acquisition and development stakeholders as to the safety and security aspects of new hotel openings and growth initiatives: compliance, technology, fire and life safety, as well as risk mitigation.
- Develops and maintains security construction standards for all hotel new builds.
- Leads the evaluation, design, and implementation of safety and security related equipment across the portfolio for existing hotels and renovations.
- Leads due diligence investigations, internal and external inquiries for all acquisitions and dispositions, executive candidates, Team Members, vendors and potential partners for Loews Hotels & Co. Collaborate with stakeholders in HR, legal, and Risk as needed.
- Develops, implements and monitors all safety and security programming throughout the portfolio.
- Provides input and direction in the development and monitoring of fiscal budgets, division operations strategies to produce both short term and long-term profitability.
- Develops and manages to a safety and security operating budget for all property operations.
- Participates in the interview process and advises the selection of prospective property safety and security leadership.
- Establishes, guides and supervises the performance standards of field safety and security leadership.
- Identifies and advises upon company-wide safety and security training and development initiatives, with a particular emphasis life safety and optimizing hospitality-focused guest service.
- Maintains relationships and acts as the senior liaison to all local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies.
- Drives compliance and partners with stakeholders in risk management and HR on the development and execution of worker’s compensation claim mitigation strategies.
- Develops mitigation strategies based on comparison statistics including losses, incidents, accidents and address systemic issues to ensure best practices in place and standards updated as needed for consistent execution across the portfolio.
- Leads compliance throughout the portfolio related to safety and security touch points such as OSHA, MSDS, or other life safety standards pertaining to the hospitality industry.
- Provides Loews Corporation ad hoc assistance to Loews Corporation in regards to local disasters, fire and life safety compliance, and support of complex investigations as needed.
- Serves as the primary company system administrator for the SEND WORD NOW emergency notification system.
- Acts as the direct supervisor of the Corporate Director, Safety and Security.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team and who is able to communicate safety and security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Must have a hospitality-minded skill set with demonstrable background of delivering exceptional guest service experiences.
- Must have a proven track record of success within the hospitality industry’s upper upscale or luxury market segments.
- Must have experience with business continuity planning, physical security, executive protection, investigations, risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation.
- Must have strong working knowledge of pertinent law and the law enforcement community.
- Must have a solid understanding of information technology and information security.
- Ability to effectively evaluate and assess immediate security needs and requirements.
- Ability to understand and explain the impact and sensitivity of security issues.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prepare office memorandum and correspondence as well as provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to Leaders and team members.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
- Command of the English language both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel for project purposes as needed.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the field of law enforcement or security.
Required Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive Safety and Security leadership experience. 5+ years in hospitality or directly related industry with multi-location and/or corporate oversight.
