The position will support the Head of Asset Management who oversees AIG’s $28 billion commercial mortgage loan portfolio located throughout North America. The position involves asset management, financial analysis, risk assessments, and managing workouts of the commercial mortgage loan and REO portfolios. The candidate will have the opportunity to leverage workout and analytical skills into a career within the commercial mortgage loan industry and with one of the world’s largest financial institutions.

The position is within the Asset Management team of the Commercial Mortgage Lending (“CML”) Department of AIG Investments and supports commercial mortgage and real estate functions assets throughout North America. The job reports directly to the Head of Asset Management for the Commercial Mortgage Loan group in Houston but supports operations in New York, Los Angeles and London.

Your Contribution at AIG

• Lead the US CML Asset Management team in implementing complex and creative workout solutions including loan restructures/modifications, note sales, foreclosures and potential JV arrangements to maximize investor returns.
• Lead and work with the Asset Management team in the proactive management, operation and disposition strategy of REO investments.
• Perform asset management/investment manager duties for a sub-portfolio of the $28 billion CML portfolio throughout the United States and Canada.
• Support the asset and portfolio management functions in the review and approval of consent requests including tenant leases/SNDAs, capital escrow accounts, construction loan draws, and condemnation/casualty issues.
• Participate in the underwriting, credit review and risk assessment of commercial real estate loans for both new and existing loans.
• Prepare and provide team support in the presentation of recommendations to the Commercial Mortgage Lending Investment Committee.

• Assist in the development and implementation of various models/programs in conjunction with asset management of the commercial mortgage loan and REO portfolios.

What we are looking for

• A minimum of 10 or more years of experience in complex commercial mortgage loan workouts and REO dispositions with additional knowledge/experience in real estate finance and construction lending.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Proficiency in the evaluation of commercial real estate utilizing Argus Enterprise/DCF and discounted cash flow modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• The ability to multitask and work within a team environment.
• Bachelor’s degree- advanced degree preferred.
