The International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) and its newly incorporated Fast-Track Cities Institute seek a dynamic and proven professional to serve as Vice President/Chief of Staff to the President/CEO as the association and institute embark on a decade of action through their next generation of innovation, advocacy, and partnership to support the attainment of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals 3, 5, 10, 11, and 17.
The Vice President/Chief of Staff will function as a strategic partner to the President/CEO, supporting the President/CEO’s management of the association and institute team, working to align organizational mission and goals with high quality execution across the association and institute, fostering inclusive and productive relationships between the President/CEO and staff throughout the organization, facilitating timely decision-making and a productive balance between short-term execution and long-term priorities, and ensuring strategic use of the President/CEO’s time. The Vice President/Chief of Staff will also serve as principal liaison for the Board of Trustees and oversee preparation and follow-up of Board meetings. The Vice President/Chief of Staff serves as a member of the association and institute leadership teams and is a member of the Executive Office, reporting to the President/CEO. The successful candidate will have a track record of excellence operating in similar roles in complex organizations and have a reputation for exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, personal integrity, and results.
Management and Execution:
- Support the President/CEO’s management functions by serving as a day-to-day interface with the association and institute leadership teams and ensuring efficient flow of information, effective decision-making, timely follow-up, and high-quality execution
- Facilitate a culture of competence-based collaboration across the association and institute by fostering open communication, building or strengthening systems that include the right internal stakeholders in decision-making and execution, and contributing to a culture of transparency and accountability
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, including the association and institute leadership teams, initiative leaders, and other key staff
- Develop or contribute to strengthening internal systems to ensure quality, consistency, and mission alignment of major internal and external communications, working closely with the Vice President/CMO, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, Director of Communications, and others
- Lead and oversee select special projects from inception to completion
- Assume day-to-day responsibility for varying projects and tasks
President/CEO Support:
- Serve as a counselor and thought partner to the President/CEO on all aspects of the association’s and institute’s work
- Establish priorities for effective use of the President/CEO’s time that advance organizational goals and balances short-term imperatives with long-term objectives
- Oversee development and execution of the President/CEO’s communications plan, working closely with the Director of Communications and others, and evaluate and shape external opportunities for the President/CEO, including speaking engagements, events, and travel, to ensure they serve institutional priorities
- Oversee key staff recruitments, working closely with the Director of Finance & Administration and others
- Work with relevant staff to support the President/CEO’s role on external boards and advisory groups
Board of Trustees Relations:
- Serve as a primary liaison to the Board of Trustees in support of the President/CEO
- Oversee planning and execution of Board meetings, working with association and institute leadership
- Develop plans to build and diversify Board recruitment
- Develop strategies to leverage Board members’ expertise, relationships, and interests to advance association and institute priorities and goals
Executive Office:
- Directly supervise small, high-functioning Executive Office team that supports the President/CEO, Vice Presidents (2), and Board of Trustees
- Ensure quality and timeliness of briefing, review, and decisional materials prepared for President/CEO
- Establish any systems needed to improve information flow related to decision-making and execution
General Strategy & Support:
- Serve as a thought partner to the President/CEO on issues of organizational strategy, priorities, and execution, including evaluating growth opportunities, exploring business model innovation, and maintaining an active understanding of the competitive non-profit marketplace .
- Maintain an active knowledge and deep understanding of the association’s and institute’s strategic and operational environment, especially emerging areas that present new opportunities for the association and institute.
- Represent the President/CEO with external stakeholders as needed and contribute to building and maintaining relationships on the President/CEO’s behalf.

Salary: $105,049.00 to $143,861.00 /year
