About This Opportunity

The Scrum Master will support 2 teams with Financial Services Delivery, the FS-API Team, and the FS-Web Team.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a Scrum Master to lead key initiatives to deliver team goals and agile project deliverables.
  • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
  • Engagement in full product life cycles, working directly with software engineering teams, product owners, architects as well as our business stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and publishing team metrics on Sprint/release progress, performance, velocity, quality and other key KPI’s.
  • Communicate with Product Managers and other stakeholders on status and issues and facilitate release management across teams to coordinate release scheduling.
  • Assist in capacity management needed to achieve project goals.
  • Assisting key business users (product owners) with backlog creation/maintenance, grooming and prioritization.
  • Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs.
  • Assist team with making appropriate commitments through meeting the standards of Definition of Ready, story selection, task definition.
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards and best practices
  • Aggressively remove impediments that block team progress.
  • Facilitates iteration planning / sprint planning, velocity management, daily stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, backlog refinement / grooming, retrospectives, sprint presentation / demos with team and Product Owner/stakeholders.
  • Identifying and removing impediments to prevent distractions
  • Maintaining software release schedule and acting as a liaison between teams to ensure proper communication.
  • Serving as a coach while empowering team self-organization and self-management.
  • Cultivating robust and sustainable working relationships between technology teams and external stakeholders to foster a cross-functional team environment.
  • Making recommendations for continuous improvement to enhance effectiveness.
  • Adhering to internal SDLC and review processes and standards Qualifications; and maintain documentation as needed
  • Working with POs, Stakeholders, managers and teams, both onshore and offshore, for Sprint development, release schedules and processes.
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience as a Scrum Master to manage Agile projects with Agile software development methodologies, specifically Scrum, Lean or Kanban
  • 5+ years of IT experience working with development teams
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Must be a Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification
  • Proficiency with JIRA for Feature, Initiative, User Story, burn down chart management etc., Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, and SharePoint 2010/SharePoint 2013
  • Exceptional facilitative skills, must be able to lead and demonstrate value add principles with transparency (e.g. desire to bring disclosure and grow trust)
  • Experience in leading process improvement and/or change initiatives, especially as it related to software development is a plus
  • Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, Crystal, XP, BDD etc
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices, and ability to mentor others
  • Strong knowledge of various estimation techniques such as Poker card, Fibonacci etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile techniques such as User Stories, Tasks, Backlog Tracking, Burn Down Metrics, Velocity, Continuous Integration and Testing, TDD, Automated Testing
  • Ability to take and understand the commitment to deliver the product on time
  • Understand the value of metrics and incremental delivery
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience dealing with multiple projects and deadlines in parallel
