Overview:
Ensures Scrum practices, theories and techniques are understood, enacted, and followed. Guides and empowers delivery teams to self-organize, within constraints of Scrum and project goals. Facilitates building working agreements with others. Shields the team from unnecessary interruptions to enable them to focus on most valuable work. Ensures the delivery team keeps their work, and impediments to work visible. Ensures the organization works to remove impediments, or accepts the current rate of progress.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Represent the health of scrum teams, oversee scrum practices, guide the teams to collaboration, work with other team members outside of the room and make the team’s work visible.
- Facilitate meetings with the product owner and team to ensure Scrum framework is effectively used to deliver high-quality, high-priority features.
- Improve product owner effectiveness by helping them find ways to develop and maintain the product backlog and release plan.
- Work in conjunction with the Project Manager to ensure project management needs are met or impediments, issues and/or risks are resolved or escalated.
- Facilitate meetings with team for purposes of idea generation, planning, retrospecting, problem-solving and alignment.
- Communicate project status to the team and product owner to ensure common understanding, set expectations and align stakeholders and project team members.
- Measure project performance utilizing appropriate tools and techniques to monitor progress; identify and quantify variances, complete required corrective actions and communicate to stakeholders.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Supervisor/Managerial Responsibilities:
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ proven general management, project analysis or project management experience including a minimum of 2 years’ Scrum Master experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ proven general management, project analysis or project management experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ Scrum Master experience
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages
Sound knowledge of project management methodology
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience working individually as well as a member of a team
Self-motivated
Results-driven
Experience handling multiple tasks and working under time constraints in support of various assignments
Strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside the organization

Education and Experience Preferred:
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification active and in good standing
Prior work experience in the financial services or related industry
