Amgen is seeking a scrum master with passion for leading the innovation of financial planning and analysis products on Amgen’s Anaplan platform. The scrum master is a foundational role on a new Agile Product Team being formed to deploy groundbreaking solutions for global professionals in Finance, Research and Development, and Global Commercial Operations. The Scrum Master will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems and will work out of Amgen’s Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. Our new Tampa Capability Center provides essential services that enable us to better pursue this mission. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies.


Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Coordinates and facilitates scrum team ceremonies including daily stand-ups, backlog grooming sessions, sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Provides mentoring on scrum methodology processes to ensure the team continues to evolve into a self-managing high performing team
  • Takes accountability for the health of the team and drives for continuous improvement
  • Helps the team break down requests into manageable stories and facilitates discussions on assigning story points
  • Reports and monitors progress of team activity during sprints to ensure sprint goals and objectives are met
  • Manages, resolves or calls out impediments as raised by individual team members and tracks team velocity
  • Represents the team during scrum of scrum meetings to ensure minimal distraction from outside influences while monitoring progress of external dependencies
  • Partners with product owners to set shared expectations with effort required from engineers across all user stories in each sprint
  • Where appropriate, participates in discussions and provides technical mentorship or facilitates and raises discussion to relevant technology teams
  • Schedules and facilitates product release planning activities including, where appropriate, approvals and communications
  • Maintains sprint documentation, monitoring and reporting


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
  • Familiar with enterprise platforms like Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, MuleSoft, Databricks, etc.
  • Skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, effectively interacting with others and mentoring junior team members in geographically disbursed model
  • Experience with Anaplan implementations a plus
