New York Public Radio’s Radiolab seeks a Project Manager to support the continued growth and ambition of the show. This person will be the right hand to the Executive Producer (EP). Project Manager role will be comprised of three parts: work side-by-side with the EP providing creative and administrative support; liaise with other New York Public Radio departments; and help push Radiolab in new and innovative directions.


Responsibilities include
:


The Operational

  • Project Manager will help the EP communicate with other NYPR departments (sponsorship, membership, publicity, marketing, IT, HR, facilities, legal, digital, data, social, business development, etc.) on various production-related matters
  • Produce sponsorship spots and work closely with the sponsorship team (this will be approximately 20% of the job)
  • Project Manager will work closely with the marketing team and publicity teams to drive brand strategy and hone Radiolab’s outfacing voice.
  • Help project-manage special series
  • Coordinate large group meetings with other WNYC departments, as well as visits from outside partners
  • Help the EP make stuff functional (from the production process, to the printer, to work-life balance for the team)
  • Assist the EP with tracking grant requirements
  • Help maintain the calendar, schedule department and out-of-office meetings, and prepare next-day agendas and meeting materials for the EP


The Creative

  • Help the Executive Producer think of new ways to position the show and find new creative partners, including artists, musicians, writers, etc.
  • Assist with production and planning for live events
  • Project Manager will perform research on culture, trends, talent, audiences, and relevant news as needed
  • Be a sounding board: everyone on the Radiolab team listens to drafts, weighs in on pitches, and talks almost obsessively about story structure, narrative, characters, and ideas. You will, too.


The Qualifications

  • You must have excellent organizational skills, be a creative thinker, a polished writer, and have a willingness to pitch in on all levels
  • You’ll be a stickler for details, creative, not afraid to be a little bit weird, incredibly organized, love deadlines, work hard and be ambitious!

  • Affinity for New York Public Radio; WNYC and/or WQXR content and mission a plus
  • Compliance with WNYC/WQXR policies and guidelines
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
