We have dozens of ready-mix and asphalt production facilities around the state of Iowa. Our massive fleet of dump and ready-mix trucks serves thousands of job sites every year. In addition, our concrete and asphalt paving divisions, along with our various other crews, complete hundreds of projects every season.

Job Description

Our Ames division has an immediate opening for a self-motivated individual to fill a Project Manager/Estimator position. This person will be responsible for compiling estimates for competitive bids, securing contracts, closing out projects, providing direction and management of project to ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. This positions requires minimal travel with most projects in Ames or surrounding counties.

Responsibilities

• Compile bids and review final estimates for accuracy and completeness.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates.
• Develop budgets, schedules and plans for the various phases of the project.
• Work with accounting personnel to set up cost codes for projects
• Act as the Company representative with customers and subcontractors
• Provide direction and overall management for project including communication with field crew.
• Negotiate changes to the scope of work with customer, key subcontractors and field crew.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or two to five years of heavy highway construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of all aspects of construction, construction methods, interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Ability to read plans and excellent problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills including letter writing and leadership skills
• Willingness to promote safety in the workplace
• Computer skills
• Current driver’s license
• Willing to obtain a Class A CDL
