Experience in analysis, testing, and use of mechanical systems and equipment structures or mechanical engineering.

Job Description:

The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS), at Iowa State University, is seeking qualified candidates for a manufacturing industry Project Manager (PM). The PM will be responsible for providing technical assistance to Iowa businesses in the areas of Industry 4.0, with an emphasis on solid modeling, system and process integration, AR/VR, 3D scanning, and other emerging engineering tools.

The PM will develop, lead, and implement long term strategic change within manufacturers across Iowa in the field of manufacturing engineering. The PM will provide statewide and national expertise in their field of hardware/software engineering and manufacturing tools and mechanical system analysis utilizing the framework of Industry 4.0. Act as a key contact in helping develop more effective engineering and manufacturing processes, executing company-wide operational excellence, and promoting creative strategies for transformational growth with better profitability through personalized engineering services tailored to the specific needs of our client companies.

The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience in the manufacturing industry. Critical skills include project management; excellent verbal and written communication skills (both verbal and written); interpersonal skills to develop trust with university administration, faculty, staff, clients and collaborators; exceptional critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills; advanced knowledge and skill to use a computer system and various business software tools; ability to deal with ambiguity; and strong time management skills. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
