Job Summary:

Develops, plans and coordinates the transportation-related personnel, equipment & activities for CenterPoint Energy Transportation group. Responsible for carrying out safe, compliant & reliable execution of transportation activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, oversees and coordinates transportation logistics for day-to-day CNG and LNG operations and execution of MES jobs.

  • Interacts with external contractors on a regular basis to coordinate and schedule transportation logistics, bulk product deliveries, and continuously manned (24-hour) transportation operations.

  • Responds to emergency requests for service during non-work hours such as nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Assists in development & implementation of DOT and Company-compliant standards, policies, practices, training programs, and safety programs.

  • Observes, inspects and directs all phases of transportation activity to ensure compliance with Company, DOT and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Develops fleet of owned and leased vehicles and equipment by developing relationships with equipment leasing companies, determining relevant equipment specifications, negotiating appropriate agreements, and managing ongoing contracts.
  • Maintains fleet of owned and leased vehicles and equipment by ensuring vehicles and equipment undergo regularly scheduled maintenance, remain compliant with required inspections and registrations, and are operated in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Develops relationship with both external and internal customers and delivers service that meets or exceeds customer expectations, needs and time frames.

  • Interacts regularly with both external customers and internal customers and promotes the company image with external and internal customers.

  • Reviews driver tickets and invoices of completed jobs for accuracy of charged units and unit rates.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and associated permits, including all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations, by reading and interpreting regulations.
  • Develops, implements, manages, maintains and updates all CET procedures, policies, training programs, safety programs and work practices.
  • Helps develop, promote & implement initiatives for innovation. Creates an environment for continuous improvement and, together with staff, identifies and implements new technologies and innovations to improve the cost effectiveness and profitability of the business and develop new products and services.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, math and grammar.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years combined technical experience in transportation logistics, providing a detailed understanding of operation and equipment maintenance for the transportation of hazardous material, overweight loads, and other specially permitted loads.

  • Able to demonstrate and apply manual dexterity to operate a personal computer.
  • Able to use hand tools as needed on job sites.

  • Able to obtain a class A, state of Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with hazardous-materials (hazmat) endorsement.
  • Able to maintain a Texas Railroad Commission CNG and LNG Certificate.
