Overview

The Head of Business Development will be responsible for recommending and executing strategies to identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities. They will map the landscape and lay the groundwork for acquisition, licensing and collaboration strategies. This includes developing business cases for opportunities and conducting research and analysis to vet and validate them. In order to be successful, this individual will need to excel at building and maintaining internal and external relationships while concurrently managing multiple projects.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with R&D and leadership in defining and seeking out strategic and complementary partners to further advance assets and programs.
  • Seek out and evaluate new, strategic external opportunities, including management of cross-functional scientific, clinical, and market / financial analyses
  • Drive strategic partnering for both in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities, supporting and managing licensing opportunities including deal valuation, term sheet development and contract negotiations
  • Maintain an integrated view of the competitive landscape
  • Deliver presentations to the senior leadership team to communicate new business opportunities on a regular basis and lead the review, negotiation, structuring, and closing of deals
  • Represent the organization at external meetings, conferences, and seminars and maintain a comprehensive database of all company BD interactions


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or Advanced Scientific Degree preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience in biotech / pharma business development
  • Excellent analytical skills, including familiarity with financial modeling
  • Outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) including an ability to communicate complex issues simply
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, complimented by excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Possess outstanding organizational and time management skills, proven ability to prioritize efficiently and effectively manage multiple complex projects and deliver on objectives. Strong attention to detail
