The Role
The Head of Business Continuity Panning and Incident Management, Operational Risk Manager 6, reporting to the Global Head of Business Continuity and Resiliency, leads the design, development, maintenance, and execution of business continuity plans, crisis and incident management, and recovery from business interruptions. The position requires management experience leading a global program at scale with demonstrated experience in business continuity, disaster management and recovery, crisis management and operational resilience in the financial services industry or other federally regulated industry; regulatory and executive stakeholder relationship management experience; and enterprise-wide change management experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the definition, governance, execution, and maturation of the Enterprise Business Continuity Program (EBCP) and operational resilience strategy, ambitions, policies and procedures.
- Enhance the set-up of EBCP into a global Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) practice, with a clearly outlined ambition, strategy, design and implementation.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners to drive business and technology strategies, create resilient business processes, determine impact on recovery strategies, and adjust plans as necessary.
- Understand and apply internal policies/procedures, laws and regulations, and industry best practices with respect to business continuity and disaster recovery including: FFIEC, OCC, FINRA, Federal Reserve, BoE, Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), and Business Continuity Institute (BCI).
- Align front-line implementation according to the aligned BC/DR strategy and requirements, including Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Plan Development, Plan Maintenance, and Exercise Execution.
- Establish and report metrics that evaluate the effectiveness of the EBCP, provide early and timely detection and reporting, and support the escalation and remediation of risks or issues.
- Continuously evaluate risks to Wells Fargo’s business processes and technology, including cyber threats, to continually align resiliency and recovery strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Develop complex scenarios and execution of corresponding testing and actions to demonstrate comprehensive recoverability; quickly remediate matters requiring attention.
- Manage the incident management process to promptly and effectively recover capabilities when disruptions occur to business activities.
Key Stakeholder Relationships:
- Engage with auditors, risk, and control organizations across all lines of defense to monitor and evaluate the ongoing effectiveness and continuous improvement of the EBCP to demonstrate its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This work includes partnering across, up, and down the Wells Fargo business and functions with matrixed resiliency leaders in other parts of the front-line, second-line, and third-line of defense.
- Integrate and partner with the lines of business during the planning, testing, and implementation of BCP and during DR activities.
- Lead interactions with regulators, auditors, and independent risk management for audits/examinations.
- Work with regulatory bodies across the jurisdictions within which Wells Fargo operates and build industry connections to stay abreast of leading practices and to influence and align with the evolving regulatory landscape.

Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 12+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 6+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
- 10+ years of management experience

Other Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in business continuity governance, operational risk management and/or operational resiliency, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of operations, technology, and business processes within a global financial services organization or other industry regulated by the federal government.
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging threats and changes in processes/technology and how they impact continuity and recovery strategies.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with direct and indirect business line senior leaders in long-range strategic planning and ensuring integration with enterprise-wide resiliency strategy.
- Experience collaborating with business and channel partners to foster a customer-centric design and development culture.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively drive and lead organizational change; establish a forward leaning posture of education and culture transformation across the enterprise.
- Expert ability to analyze a complex set of data and extract information critical to determining potential risk to the organization.
- Unquestionable integrity and objectivity, with ongoing commitment to excellence and the ability to thrive in diverse environments and cultures.
