Position Overview

The Director of Supply Chain is a key member of the Friedrich Management team. This role is responsible for all supply chain, supplier management, production scheduling, quality, and spare parts related activities for the company. The Director of Supply Chain needs to function strategically and tactically and should demonstrate strong business acumen to effectively represent the company inside and outside the organization.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Management ; MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years related Supply Chain management experience; 5 + years preferred in a complex environment with mixed procurement and production planning required
  • Very strong communication skills – internally and externally
  • Experience managing a large component of annual business spend with a deep understanding of Sales & Operations Planning activities
  • Extremely data driven – Requires very strong data interpretation and analytical skills; ability to understand what data is required, build independently from ERP system or other sources, analyze, and communicate concisely
  • Very strong understanding of performance planning – setting and measuring appropriate KPI for various functions, driving improvements, etc.
  • Ability to attract, manage, and motivate high potential employees
  • Strong work ethic with a “can do” attitude
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Previous ERP experience, preferably Epicor
  • Prior experience using lean principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work closely across organization with other departments and with multiple levels

Key Responsibilities

  • Passionately drive and continuously improve the company SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning) process
  • Review and compile all Supply and Demand inputs with functional owners to drive accountability and data accuracy of monthly sales forecast and inventory planning output
  • Provide product intelligence and required actions in the generation of the inventory forecast.
  • Recommend supply and demand shaping opportunities to achieve business goals.
  • Represent Friedrich Supply Chain and articulate supply and inventory availability details for regular and ad hoc external customer meetings
  • Articulate supply and inventory plans at all meetings with key internal stakeholders
  • Drive disposition of inactive, obsolete, and overstocked inventory with internal Sales directors and team
  • Identify required product mix for master scheduler to execute to when creating production scheduling
  • Manage procurement activities in line with forecasts for all sourced finished goods, sourced accessories, and sourced spare parts
  • Work closely with product management team to execute flawless inventory planning for all new product introductions
  • Manage supplier performance and risk management processes and perform regular monthly supplier reviews to ensure minimal disruption to product availability and high levels of product quality
  • Manage central corporate quality management activities to drive quality processes through the organization
  • Manage service parts function, establish overall spare parts business strategy in line with overall company objectives, and create necessary processes and KPI to ensure a high level of spare parts availability with appropriate inventory levels and strong sales margins
  • Providing leadership and daily management of four direct reports; Develop team while building a lean culture throughout supply chain, utilizing all lean tools available
  • Other Ad Hoc reporting, analysis, and projects as required by the company
