Buffalo State College seeks applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Human Resource Management (AVPHRM). The AVPHRM reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Management and is a key member of the Finance and Management leadership team, working cooperatively with the vice president and team members to plan and implement the strategic objectives of the division and the college.
Candidates will demonstrate experience in strategic planning and a commitment to organizational development, able to help guide organizational transformation and purposeful, meaningful change; improve organizational effectiveness while adhering to the Buffalo Stateâs culture and values; and maximize employee productivity.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and proven human resources administrator, able to provide exceptional vision, leadership and oversight to the varied functions within the department, as well as advance strategic directions of the campus. This position will oversee human resource matters not only for state employees at Buffalo State, but also for those employed by the Buffalo State College Foundation and the Research Foundation for SUNY Buffalo State.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree
- Longstanding experience in relevant positions at institutions of similar size and scope
- Direct experience and demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following human resources areas: Organizational development, employee relations, personnel operations, employee benefits and payroll services
- Successful human resources and labor relations management experience in a unionized environment
- Evidence of success in utilizing data to guide recommendations
- Demonstrated success as a motivational and transformational leader
- The ability to excel in a complex, high demand environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Successful experience as an open and transparent communicator
- The highest standards for personal and professional ethics and integrity
- A profound respect for diversity and inclusive excellence in higher education
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, management, public administration, economics, finance, marketing or other relevant field
- Certification as a human resource professional: PHR, SPHR, SHRM or similar
- Experience in guiding organizational change management
- Demonstrated success serving as a human resources leader in a higher education environment
- Knowledge of New York State regulations and SUNY governance, policies and procedures
- Successful human resources experience in a public, unionized higher education institution with an appreciation for and support of shared governance
