Job Summary:

In a career as a Vice President of Facilities, you will provide strategic vision and leadership in the comprehensive planning and management of all Boys Town facility management operations; to include the Village of Boys Town, the Boys Town National Research Hospital, and all locations across seven different states.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures. Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness and changes required for improvement.
  • Develops and manages annual operating budgets. Uses the budget as a guideline for revenue and expense analysis on an ongoing basis to determine potential variances and adjusts where necessary. Controls and predicts financial costs, negotiating contracts to stay within budget.
  • Advises executive leadership on the funding needs to adequately maintain the physical facilities, and in the allocation of fiscal resources for various capital improvement and maintenance projects at each location.
  • Ensures the maintenance of the hospital physical structure is in accordance with standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO), State and City Regulations and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Oversees compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Oversees acquisition and sale of real estate nationwide.
  • Oversees construction/renovation projects. Coordinates with local and state officials for code and zoning compliance for existing and new buildings. Ensures efficient and effective bidding, procurement, management and assessment of maintenance and repair projects, to ensure that projects meet quality, budget and safety standards and are completed on time. Reviews building plans for new construction and ensures that materials used during construction and repair are durable and are consistent across sites.
  • Visits sites as needed to monitor construction plans, current infrastructure, and progress. Meets with customers, contractors, architects, engineers, and suppliers to address concerns, questions, and problems.
  • Designs, establishes, and maintains organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department’s function. Oversees the allocation of human, financial and equipment resources to ensure flexibility, timeliness and customer satisfaction in responding to organizational priorities.
  • Oversees the supervision of personnel which includes: work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience of increasingly progressive facilities management experience in one or more areas that report to this position (i.e. maintenance, facilities, construction projects).
  • This position is on-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local occupational and environmental regulations, professional standards and best practices in environmental health and safety (i.e., JCAHO, OSHA, CDC/NIH, EPA, DOT and related standards).
