About the Group:

The Risk Governance function within the Chief Operating Office of Independent Risk Management is responsible for the design and implementation of firm-wide frameworks and practices that are integral and fundamental to Risk Management within Citi. These include, but are not limited to, the firm’s risk identification, risk appetite, and risk governance frameworks; the new and modified product approval framework; risk policy; risk governance committees; risk reporting; risk controls and issue management; risk learning and development; and risk budget management.


About the Team:

As part of this function, the Risk Frameworks & Identification team is responsible for managing the firm’s risk governance framework, risk appetite frameworks, and risk identification program to support a clear and consistent articulation of the firm’s risk appetite, appropriate capture of material risks facing the firm, and integration of both with the firm’s day-to-day risk management practices to ensure those risks are managed, monitored, and controlled.


About the Role:

The current opening is for a Senior Vice President candidate to support the firm’s identification program, which includes the Risk Taxonomy, the Material Risk Inventory and the Risk Assessments of Plan. The responsibilities of the role are significant contributors to the success of the broader team’s mandate to deliver best-in-class risk governance programs and processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the quarterly risk identification process, which includes working with business and risk stakeholders to ensure content is updated and reviewed and challenged.
  • Drive the analysis of the risk inventory to glean insights on emerging risks, trends or other noteworthy areas for communication with senior management, regulators, the Board or to inform future program enhancements.
  • Collaborate with team members to further enhance the connectivity of risk identification processes with day-to-day business and risk management practices. This will include strengthening existing linkages or establishing new linkages to other practices at the firm.
  • Participate in projects related to the digitization of the risk identification process and to enhancing the analytics underpinning the risk inventory.
  • Support the engagement of senior management across the firm to socialize program enhancements and attend various senior-level risk committees to advance the implementation of those enhancements through challenge discussions and support regulatory and audit reviews at various levels.
  • Partner with the Risk Appetite and Risk Governance Framework teams to further integrate risk identification concepts into each program.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in risk management
  • Undergraduate or Advanced degree(s) with an analytical focus (e.g., finance, business administration, economics, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of the full taxonomy of risks and of Citi’s businesses and products and their risk / return profiles
  • Strong written communication skills related to policy writing and Board-level presentations / dashboards
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to translate complex material for a variety of internal audiences
  • Proven experience in driving own book of work and delivering against firm-wide, cross-risk initiatives
  • Adept at building relationships with key stakeholders and influencing and negotiating to drive change
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; pro-actively informs manager of progress against tasks
