Responsibilities:

Manages the loss and expense ratio for the Claims Region.

Creates and implements strategies to achieve superior loss mitigation results.

Selects, trains, develops, and manages claims staff. This staff is comprised of attorneys, claims managers, claims handlers and administrative personnel.

Communicates and implements all Corporate, SBU and LMS policies and procedures, as well as departmental surety claim policies and procedures, and manages employee compliance.

Establishes and achieves Claims Region performance objectives.

Establishes and manages the budget for the Claims Region.

Manage the establishment of all loss and salvage reserves as well as salvage recovery strategies for the Claims Region.

Manages the selection of outside legal counsel, accountants and engineering consultants in conjunction with the VP Finance and VP Engineering.

Prepares and delivers presentations/training sessions to LMS and external industry audiences concerning surety law and claim issues and stays abreast of developments in the law which impact surety claims.
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of surety claims handling practices as well as private, state, and federal laws that are applicable to surety claims.
- Ability to create alignment; attract, develop and motivate talent; communicate effectively; exercise a high degree of autonomy in managing operations as normally acquired through completion of Law School and 10 years or greater surety claims experience or equivalent surety claims experience (usually greater than 12 years) in managing the most complex surety claims and training and supervising lesser experienced claims professionals.
