TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Houston, Texas.


Job Summary:
The Project Manager coordinates all aspects of the company’s project(s) from initiation through delivery. Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the project (i.e. product on schedule and within budget constraints). Coordinates project delivery needs regarding staff management, project documentation, equipment specification / procurement, deployment / integration activities, customer / client relations, and project closeout.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages project teams – coordinates activities, tracks performance, provides feedback, & motivates staff.
  • Identifies project staffing needs and assists in the formation of effective project teams.
  • Identifies and procures resources necessary to complete projects.
  • Prepares, implements, & monitors schedule and cost estimates.
  • Manages and administers relevant subcontract agreements.
  • Coordinates company response to RFP or customer request for quotation.
  • Manages project execution so that:

    • Project deliverables are of a high quality and meet the expectations of the stakeholders.
    • Projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Project deliverables are deployed and turned over to the organization smoothly and efficiently.
    • TransCore policies, standards and best practices are adhered to.
  • Reports project status to management.
  • Completes and manages organization of project documentation.
  • Prepares project plans that guide project execution to a successful conclusion.
  • Proactively detects and evaluates issues/risks.
  • Communicates project information including approach, progress, forecasts, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Provides guidance to projects on best practices and standards to utilize.


Education
: Four-year degree in an engineering field or other four-year degree with related project management experience. MBA or project management training/certification desired.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ plus years of experience as a project manager in the tolling / ITS industry
  • Ability to read / comprehend roadway engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to persuade and negotiate overall project objectives with a client while ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and apply those to delivering a project through cross-functional team management
  • Ability to produce / review quality written documents both technical and contractual in nature
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Project management, project finance & accounting experience
  • Project scheduling – Primavera / Microsoft Project
  • Design Build Project Experience
  • Proposal development / delivery
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage in a cross-functional team environment


Job Complexity:
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships.


Supervision:
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and provides guidance to other personnel.


Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
