We are looking for a seasoned Marketing Communications Director to join the Central Marketing Organization (CMO), responsible for developing and executing our external marketing strategy for our US leadership team.

The US Central Marketing Organization (USCMO) leads marketing for the United States subsidiary of Microsoft. With a broad view of the business, the USCMO focuses on acquiring new customers, driving usage and consumption of Microsoft’s Cloud Services, and delivering fans and advocates across segments and channels. The USCMO partners with Microsoft headquarters to ensure a connected customer experience in alignment with global strategies and local business needs. With marketing excellence and deep discipline expertise in Digital and Experiential Marketing and Analytics, the USCMO supports industry and commercial businesses and delivers B2B marketing. The USCMO uses global content and assets, focuses local marketing investments in alignment with customer buying scenarios, and creates positive customer experiences.

The Marketing Communications Director is responsible for the communication strategy across the senior leadership team in the US. You will be obsessed with customers, innovation and telling our Digital Transformation story across the US market to business decision makers (CxO, BDM). The ideal candidate will be a voracious learner, quick adopter of leading practices from peers, and a senior contributor. You should have a strong customer focus and you must enjoy being continually challenged in a multifaceted, matrixed, and constantly changing environment. This role combines strong business thinking, seasoned marketing leadership, Modern Marketing experience and great storytelling skills.


Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy and execute communication plans for the senior leadership team across the Microsoft United States.
  • Be a key stakeholder in digital storytelling/strategy
  • Create positioning, messaging and strategy with stakeholders across the US and Corporate headquarters.
  • Plan to include owned and earned channels using an optimal mix of engagement vehicles.
  • Build strategy recommendations based on customer insights and business interdependencies.
  • Execute the plan understanding market insights, competitive pressures and the overall strategy, risks, and need for global alignment. Results are measured by positive sentiment and customer outcomes. The plans identify key influentials for outreach, sets and meet both positive press goals and other success metrics.
  • Drive the requirement and selection process for agencies and day-to-day project management for agency work.


Qualifications

  • At least 10 years as a strong communicator with experience across multiple Comms functions: agency, in house, employee, web, social, integrated marketing, etc.
  • Awareness of and experience dealing with government and public affairs issues
  • Experience in engaging with senior leadership and C-suite
  • May be asked to act as an external spokesperson
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Business background and marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) preferred with emphasis in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products and the technology industry preferred
  • Current knowledge of digital communications techniques and social media engagement is preferred
