Overview
Assists Director, Global Insurance Risk Management, with the implementation of Hanesbrands’ property, executive risk, and casualty management programs. Responsible for preparation and maintenance of underwriting data, review of insurance contracts, and communication of programs to business units.
Responsibilities
Program Processes and Procedures:
- Collects current and historical exposure information and prepares annual underwriting data for submissions to the brokers/insurance markets on a timely basis for all risk insurance programs
- Verifies accuracy of insurance policies and endorsements; follows up with brokers, as necessary, for policies and endorsements
- Manages annual data audits of casualty programs
- Requests and tracks surety bonds, as needed
- Manages timely and accurate payment of all risk management expenses; prepares monthly tracking
- Prepares cost of risk allocations to business units; communicates with HBI accounting
- Facilitates insurance, claims and risk management integration for newly acquired companies
- Manages outgoing certificate of insurance and vehicle ID card requests; archives incoming certificates
- Tracks contracts with outside vendors (RMIS, property loss control, etc.)
- Works with insurers and state self-insurance departments to minimize letters of credit
- Assures that the Risk Management Policy Digest and Insurance Coverage Summaries (produced by brokers) and other pertinent documentation are kept updated
Claims Management and Analysis:
- Manages all Risk Management Information Systems – oversees relationships, data conversion projects/processes, users, etc.
- Reviews losses, development factors and claims information for quarterly actuarial reserve analysis; prepares memo to accounting with results and works with Internal Audit’s SOX team on compliance
- Reports marine cargo stockthroughput claims to MCST broker
- Reports all vehicle, general and product liability claims to casualty TPA
- Coordinates claims investigations/resolutions, as needed
- Works in tandem with legal department on litigated casualty claims; attends NC workers’ comp mediations
- Manages TPAs’ adjusters, and coordinates periodic claim file reviews
Qualifications
Education:
- College degree with major in finance, accounting or risk management
- CRM, ARM or CPCU designations
Experience:
- Three years’ business experience, minimum of two years within risk management (preferably connected with manufacturing or retail), or insurance company or brokerage experience handling national or global accounts
- Demonstrated capabilities in the major areas of responsibilities described above
Competencies or behavioral characteristics required to the accomplish primary accountabilities of job:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; must be able to interface with all levels of operating unit associates and corporate staff
- Highly developed organizational skills; must be detail oriented and comfortable working with numbers
- Computer skills, experienced in Windows environment, Word, Excel, Access, and Microsoft Outlook software and use of on-line claims information systems
- Time management skills, flexible and able to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
