Summary
The EH&S Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating and monitoring employee safety programs aimed at prevention and early intervention and overseeing all local, State and Federal regulatory affairs requirements as directed by Management. Provide Leadership for strategic safety initiatives. Areas of responsibility include regulatory compliance, ergonomics, work site safety practices, workersâ compensation and safety documentation. Maintain reporting and record keeping requirements for all local, State and Federal regulations. This position does not qualify for relocation, only local applicants will be considered.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state legislation; recommend mitigation as necessary and determine methods for improved accident and loss prevention. Insure compliance with ADA, EPA, OSHA, Stormwater and Minnesota Department of Agriculture requirements.
- Enhance/improve the welfare of employees and the organization through education, behavioral change, cultural support and the continual process of safety improvement in a quality, cost effective manner.
- Reduce the incidence of site illness/injury by developing and implementing aggressive, proactive educational and intervention programs such behavioral safety, ergonomics, etc.
- Conduct/facilitate training seminars in order to provide employees with information regarding safe working practices and accident prevention methods.
- Insure proper coordination of all elements workersâ compensation, with the main focus on employees returning to work programs; including claims analysis as requested
- Prepare and Review investigation reports in a group environment and take appropriate actions; develop strategies to prevent future recurrences.
- Manage safety systems for operations through inspection, observations, incident investigations, leadership and accountability.
- Perform audits on all machinery as instructed by management.
- Complete daily BMP checklist.
- Ensure proper equipment certifications and training on equipment (i.e. forklift).
- Assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets for all internal products used and external products shipped.
- Support the existing Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) effectiveness.
- All other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree in Safety or Engineering or other relevant field of study or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2-years of experience in related area of manufacturing.
- Knowledge and broad technical background with Government Regulations (OSHA and related regulations including EPA and Minnesota Department of Agriculture)
- Ability to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, adapts policies, create reporting and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills are required, since contact with all levels of management, employees and government agencies are necessary.
- Demonstrated cross functional experience ability to influence and able to react to different situations and emotions of others, including customers, employees and all others.
- Computer skills (Internet, Microsoft Office).
- Helpful, friendly and upbeat attitude.
