DSHS ESH Director of Psychology

We are seeking a Director of Psychology, a leader who can re-imagine what our psychology department looks like in our hospital setting. A trailblazer who can evaluate the current processes in place and provide guidance and support to what needs to be improved upon. In other words, help take our Psychology department to the next level.

You’ll provide supervision and performance evaluations for the psychologists, assuring psychologists work cooperatively with the unit clinical directors and the ward treatment teams and ensure to provide high quality care for the patients in a manner that meets external accrediting and certifying agency standards.

At a high level you will:

  • Develop, implement, monitor and assure that policies and procedures are consistent
  • Provide oversight of all behavior management plans
  • Provide department orientation of the Washington State University interns, coordinate with the faculty and various hospital staff
  • Work collaboratively with Forensic Services Unit
  • Collaborate and coordinate with hospital executives, medical staff, management, and leadership impacting best practices
  • Manage the psychology department including hiring for vacancies and provide department specific training assignments within the hospital.

We are interested in a skilled leader with five years’ experience in an inpatient setting, psychiatric setting and a valid license to practice psychology in the state of Washington or the ability to obtain one by start of employment. In addition, this person has a proven record of clinical excellence and management expertise.
