The Director, Certification and Airworthiness is responsible for standardization and deployment of processes and tools that drive compliance for certification, qualification, and airworthiness of products across the company; and strategy development to ensure continued improvements in certification and airworthiness compliance processes and capabilities across the company. This position will report to the Vice President, Core Engineering for Cabin.

Summary of Duties:

  • Execute certification and airworthiness standardization improvement initiatives within Cabin divisions and business units.
  • Harmonization and define certification and airworthiness engineering best practices, global standards, and processes within Cabin divisions and business units.
  • Work with the sales and marketing team on new bids that are challenging from a Certification perspective to ensure risks are identified and standardized procedures are considered.
  • Work with new product development teams to ensure standardized certification and airworthiness processes are considered and deployed in the development process.
  • Support Cabin Technical Audits.
  • Coordinate issues, challenges, and improvements for certification and airworthiness with customers, regulatory agencies, and program teams.
  • Support Group and Cabin Expert program and activities.
  • Participate on regulatory and industry working groups, process development teams, and committees related to certification and airworthiness.
  • Perform Safran Cabin Inc. Organization Designation Authorization (FAA ODA) Lead Administrator duties.
  • Represent Cabin certification and airworthiness throughout Safran.
  • Prepare and ensure certification and airworthiness training is implemented in Cabin.
  • Development and implementation of strategic certification and airworthiness initiatives.
  • Actively deploy One Safran Develop, PROMPT, and industrialization within Cabin.
  • Implement standard tools, processes and procedures for the Cabin Engineering function.
  • Leverage technical collaboration, expertise, and lessons learned related to certification and airworthiness across Cabin.
  • Drive efficiency and predictable execution across all program and project development activities in Cabin.
  • Direct the Cabin Engineering Certification Group activities for programs and projects.
  • Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more employees.
  • Ad hoc reports on design risks depending on the criticality of issues, and support to mitigation action plan development (general orientations or detailed planning depending on the situation).

Job requirements

  • 10 years of experience inclusive of all characteristics of certification and airworthiness requirements, functions, processes and procedures;
  • strong knowledge of certification and airworthiness regulations, processes, and methods worldwide;
  • 5 years formal leadership experience with managing certification and airworthiness personnel and activities;
  • direct experience working with FAA, EASA, and other regulatory agencies on certification and airworthiness projects;
  • strong verbal, technical writing, and written communication skills for internal company, customer, and authority interactions;
  • hard-working, dependable, organized, and self-disciplined.
