The Bowie Baysox are seeking eager and energetic candidates for the full-time position of Community Programs Manager. The successful candidate will play an integral role in positioning the Baysox organization throughout our community and aiding the organization in the planning, development and execution of promotional events designed to bring fans to the ballpark.

Position Summary:
The Community Programs Manager will develop, organize and implement a comprehensive and ongoing community relations program to strengthen the organization’s commitment as a strong community partner. The Community Programs Manager will be responsible for handling all facets of the organization’s school based programs. The Community Programs Manager will assist the Marketing & Promotions Department in the development and execution of promotional and marketing based initiatives. The Community Programs Manager will be expected to make phone calls, conduct face-to-face meetings and use email correspondence as methods for building lasting relationships with area educators and community members. The ability to work as part of team is a must.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Craft, develop and implement a community awareness initiative that gets the organization, it’s staff and players out into the community year round.
- Main point of contact for school based programs at the Baysox while building and maintaining a positive relationship with area schools, educators, leaders and home school programs.
- Facilitate and execute the Baysox Read & Hit A Home Run Reading Program, Educator Appreciation Day & Summer Reading Programs in addition to other education based programs that are developed.
- Execute the process of signing up schools for the various programs as well as promoting the Reading Programâs Jersey Design Contest for each county that participates.
- Responsible for arranging and speaking at school appearances that help promote the Read & Hit A Home Run Reading Program and other various programs and promotions.
- Responsible for execution of Reading Program poster distribution to all participating schools.
- Collect ticket numbers and distribute tickets for Read & Hit A Home Run Reading Program, Educator Appreciation Day and Summer Reading Programs.
- Actively improve ticket redemption of school based programs while encouraging greater participation from each school.
- Assist in the development of the Baysox promotional calendar & on-field promotional events and activities.
- Assist in and help execute the development of marketing driven events and promotions that will drive ticket sales to Baysox home games.
- Help Promotions Manager manage the Baysox Orange Ambassador student internship program during the season, which includes interviews, mentorship and the delegation of projects and responsibilities to help drive awareness and ticket sales for Baysox games and events.
- Help with distribution of Baysox pocket schedules in the region.
- Organize, evaluate and fulfill all donation requests received by the team.
- Work various off-site and non-game day events that promote the Baysox and engage current and future Baysox fans.
- Assist in various ticket sales campaigns such as warm and cold calling to help increase ticket plan and walk up sales.
- All other duties as assigned by the Assistant General Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent degree in sport management, sales, marketing or business; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years marketing, sales and/or customer service experience, preferably within the sports industry.
- Proficient skills in computer applications including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and ability to learn and master new software programs.
- Proficient in Social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat with a demonstrated ability to utilize each platform to help market the organization and the events we participate in a positive manner at all times.
- Excellent oral and written communication and customer service problem solving skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours including all 70 Baysox home games, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to assist Baysox staff in pulling and dumping field tarp when needed.
- Professional Baseball and/or sports experience preferred but not required.

Candidate must be a self-starting, results driven individual with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a stressful environment. Candidate must have strong time management skills, be well organized and have a strong desire and inner motivation to succeed.

Salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus structure (when eligible).
