Community Substance Use Disorder Development Director
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: FLSA Status: Exempt
Plans, organizes, and implements Community response that impacts substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery programs. Work is performed under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for completing mapping of Sequential Intercept Model for identification of community behavioral health need gaps in services as related to Substance Use Disorder Services
- Develops a communication plan to update community stakeholders on regional findings
- Promote and educate community on initiatives through awareness campaigns, public relations, community forums, town hall meetings, schools, etc.
- Interfaces with community stakeholders and media for substance abuse related issues.
- Interfaces with key community stakeholders in addressing community substance abuse issues.
- Works with Community Stakeholders in development of a Regional Substance Use Disorder Strategic Plan
- Responsible for promoting and educating community liaisonâs/groups on awareness campaigns, public relations, town community meetings, etc.
- Makes recommendations for contractual agreements with partner organizations to build client capacity and programs.
- Directs efforts to research, promote, and implement new community-based programs to expand existing substance abuse programs to include but not limited to, drug courts, prevention programs, treatment, and aftercare.
- Cultivates positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Partners with Executive Director to interface with media for substance abuse issues and proposed remedies.
- Responsible for direct fund-raising campaigns as related to Substance Use Disorder Services
- Researches and develops grant applications to meet the needs of the substance abuse programs/initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the philosophy, objectives, practices as related to Substance Use Disorders, prevention, treatment and recovery; thorough knowledge of community orientation towards substance abuse problems; thorough knowledge of the court operations and intake procedures; thorough knowledge of the laws pertaining to substance abuse; drug abuse and substance abuse control practices; ability to communicate with partners regarding substance abuse problems and to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel, clients, their families and professionals, community groups, criminal justice stakeholders; knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel .

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masterâs degree in human service or relatable field with 3 years of experience strongly preferred. Prior Experience in substance abuse prevention, treatment, or rehabilitation is required. Experience with drug court, grant administration, and public relations preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires little or no physical effort or exertion; working conditions are good; some mental effort and stress may be involved resulting in inconvenience and frustration.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Virginia driver’s license; attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines.

Salary: $61,000.00 to $76,849.50 /year
