The WBUR Assistant Program Director supports WBURs Managing Director of News and Programming and will help manage and direct news and programs at WBUR. The position will maintain editorial oversight for WBUR’s editorial unit for CitySpace as well as other remote events (often for live or on demand broadcast) related to news and public affairs. The Assistant Program Director serves as the formal liaison to the CitySpace team and WBUR Director of Community Engagement. The Assistant Program Director is responsible for proposing, planning, and executing broadcast activities connecting the journalism of WBUR with CitySpace events. The Assistant Program Director serves as the Executive Producer and director for all special remote events such as political party conventions, election night broadcasts and special panel discussions related to politics and other news related issues. The Assistant Program Director works closely and in coordination with (a) the Managing Director of News & Programming on WBUR’s broadcast program schedule, (b) WBUR’s marketing department on effective marketing (broadcast & on line), and (c) WBUR’s membership director and team regarding on-air fundraising campaigns and marketing campaigns. The Assistant Program Director will assist the Managing Director of News & Programming in a confidential capacity affecting areas related to programming.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred with over eight years of related work experience.
