Accountabilities:
Primarily accountable for speed and accuracy (including ethical standards) of execution of purchasing orders as well as other payment methods. Accountable for training and management of purchasing systems and procedures campus-wide. Coordination and management of major procurement projects. Responsible for vendor accountability including, but not limited to timeliness, cost efficiency, quality and ethics. Accountable for generating, completing and monitoring campus-wide agreements. As Assistant Director, responsible for decision making on behalf of the department for assigned bid process. Responsible for operation of Purchasing department in the absence of Director. Accountable for effective direction of Purchasing staff.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of experience at the Senior Buyer or equivalent combination of experience required.
  • Familiarity with purchasing information systems and corresponding best practices.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement best practices policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using and learning other accounting and financial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university setting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity, with contract negotiation.
  • Experienced in supplier management.
  • Experience in conducting RFP’s.
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Experience with contract review and development.
  • Banner 9 experience a plus


Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher with professional certification.

Certifications
Certifications such as: CPSM, CPM or APM, highly desirable.
