    Description of role:

    Supervises and coordinates the work of Materials Management employees for Berryville & Coral Graphics Shipping & Receiving/. Ensures there is adequate coverage, as needed, for three shifts/seven days a week. Responsible for inventory accuracy of raw materials. Provides Management direction to the Shipping Manager as needed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitors daily schedule of incoming deliveries and makes necessary personnel adjustments to provide coverage.
    • Coordinates with other departments the receipt of emergency and/or after-hour deliveries.
    • Investigates any problems or machine downtime caused by raw materials (late, wrong size, damaged, lost) and takes corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
    • Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and in a safe environment
    • Investigates any safety concerns and takes necessary action to eliminate safety hazards.
    • Manages and controls, through WIP Coordinators, all Work-in-process
    • Manages and controls, through Component Coordinators, all storage and issuing of over job components & raw materials.
    • The warehouse/receiving manager plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storages, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production shops, ensuring a smooth consistent operation so parts and supplies are available in departments in effective efficient manners needed to satisfy the customer requirements. The position oversees the receiving, storage and materials: monitors guidelines and manages supervisors and their direct reports across three shifts.
    • Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving mission in an effective and efficient manner. Interviews and recommends applicants for hire as needed.
    • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates the performance of warehouse and receiving associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary. Develops crew leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew members.
    • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving mission in a safe, effective manner. Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials.
    • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the receiving department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received. Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry. Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
    • Oversees the supplying of materials to production and stages material for book manufacturing. Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse. Monitors aging raw materials and is compliant with keeping raw materials at a safe low level at all times.
    • Monitors and measures receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy of the locator, receiving reporting, movement and storage of material, and transfers to service parts.
    • Inventory, shipping and receiving; designs and executes strategies and plans to meet the company’s short-term and long-term management/production control requirements.

    Weekly/Monthly:

    • Prepares and submits a monthly report to Production Control Manager & Plant VP concerning relevant activity within the Materials Management Department.
    • Meets with Plant Vice President to discuss pertinent budget items and compare planned vs. actual spending.
    • Performs, via a member of department, safety inspections.

    Other:

    • Conducts employee performance appraisals as due
    • Schedules department vacations

    Requirements:

    • 2+ years maintenance management/leadership experience (req)
    • 2+ years advanced education (req)
    • 2+ years working in press, printing, bindery industry (preferred)
