Responsibilities

The Vice President, Cardiovascular Service Line for WellStar Health System works closely with the Chief Cardiology Officer and will have responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating initiatives around:

  • Growth
  • Quality & Patient Safety
  • Customer Service
  • Physician Integration
  • Consistency of Practice

The Vice President will assist in the further development of this service lines in concert with the Service Line Chief, with the ultimate goal of becoming the premier provider of Cardiovascular services within the Southeast. The Vice President will develop and formalize an integrated service line approach throughout the WellStar Health System. He/she will identify opportunities to grow the service lines. The ideal candidate will have both an entrepreneurial spirit and track record of developing and growing service lines combined with a detail orientation and strong operations skill set.

This position works collaboratively with the hospital administrators and operational leaders at all sites as well as the practice managers of WellStar Medical Group to ensure that the service lines meets all of their goals. The position reports directly to the Vice President Service Line Lead.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Master degree from an accredited institution.

Required Minimum Experience:

The ideal candidate for the Vice President, Cardiovascular Service Line will possess ten years of experience in a complex healthcare environment with significant exposure to matrix operating structures and extensive experience with program development.

The executive will possess:

  • Excellent physician relations skills and previous experience in growing volume.

  • Skills in relationship development and collaboration across a matrix environment to establish standardization of care for the Cardiovascular Service Line of business for WellStar Health System.

  • Proven effective and innovative business development expertise, experience, and skills gained within an organization known for leading edge program development in an organization committed to excellence.

  • Proven ability to manage the financial and capital resources of the department/service groupings.

  • A strong customer focus and operates with a positive “can-do” philosophy and be a person of the highest level of integrity.

  • The ability to develop long- and short-range goals and plans; program evaluation; and budget preparation and ensures the services and programs provided by the department achieve quality standards.

  • Excellent understanding of clinical and technology trends related to the delivery of healthcare services.

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, presentation (as well as listening) – and the confidence to represent the organization in both formal and informal settings.

  • A leadership style which emphasizes personal accountability and visibility within the system and within the community. A take charge person.

  • A firm commitment to an understanding of delivering high quality healthcare services with an unparalleled commitment to customer service as a necessary component for success.
