ABB is currently seeking a Vice President and General Manager Gas Insulated Switchgear – NAM for its Princeton, NJ location. The responsibilities include to ensure profit & loss and business growth through the local representation of the Global Product Group, strong customer relations and active product portfolio management. Coach localization of production, ensure delivery of quality to customers and secure profitability of the business by close collaboration with Hub Operations management

Your responsibilities

  • Strategy: Implement the Global Product Group strategy in the Hub of North America and ensure business development, including profit and loss (P&L), in allocated market. Provide input to Global Product Group strategy.
  • Participate in Hub Business Unit strategy development in partnership with local management team.
  • Performance targets: Ensure development of performance targets in line with global targets and ensure achievement through regular oversight and definition of improvement actions as needed.
  • Market opportunities: Identify and evaluate market opportunities and decide appropriate activities in line with the strategy.
  • Profitability: Ensure profitable business growth in allocated markets.
  • Quality: Coach localization of GIS production, oversee production and/or execution of high quality products, services and processes. Monitor quality metrics, identify opportunities for improvement in local execution, and oversees improvement activities.
  • Project execution: Ensure the execution of projects according to agreed targets in terms of schedule, quality, financial results and customer satisfaction.
  • R & D: Oversee and drive relevant Research and Development initiatives.
  • Customer relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • People leadership: Ensure (with HRBP support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and development and directed with a focus on longer term strategic planning and policy development. Guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies

Your background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business or related field and 12 plus years of experience.
  • MBA preferred
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States
  • strong business leadership skills and fluent in English – French and Spanish beneficial
  • Leading and successfully managing an international virtual organization with P&L responsibility performing diverse and complex business functions
  • Experience in building up High Voltage GIS business is of large benefit. Managing GIS or similar factory production facility with business volume
