Job Purpose

The AkzoNobel Site Manager manages the execution of all operations related activities at the Salem, Oregon Plant. Directs, administers and coordinates all operational activities in accordance with the goals, objectives and policies established by AkzoNobel directives.

This position will be located in Salem, Oregon.

Key Accountabilities
  • Directs all manufacturing, materials, and distribution activities by optimizing production, distribution and purchasing activities in a cost-effective manner while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a best of class manufacturing organization which leads the industry in regulatory compliance, quality, safety and manufacturing costs.
  • Provide strategic direction for the operational area to meet the financial goals set out in the annual budget plan and other strategic objectives.
  • Manage and provide leadership for compliance with Health, Safety & Environment issues and for all Federal, State, local and AkzoNobel Corporate regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and HSE certifications (ISO 900, 14001) as required.
  • Provide direction on the achievement of strategic goals and objectives. Conduct operational staff meetings to present goals and convert into process and individual goals.
  • Provide all direct reports with career growth opportunities by training in specific jobs and cross training in jobs which have close functional responsibilities. Develop direct reports to assume accountability for their area of responsibility.
  • Benchmark the best of class industry practices to maintain a high profile of new initiatives.
  • Direct site engineering activities to include execution of the capital plan for the Salem, OR location by monitoring submissions, tracking status, and reviewing submitted projects for compliance to corporate guidelines and objectives.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Production Management, Business, or related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive manufacturing management that involved supervision of scheduling, materials, production, maintenance, engineering, and quality.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills are required.
