My client, ELG UTICA ALLOYS INC. is seeking a full-time, highly motivated Regional Director Human Resources to join their team in Hartford, CT!

Position Overview

The newly created position guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources for the entire ELG Utica Alloys organization in USA and globally. He/she originates and leads HR practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The HR Director has several direct reports and reports to the COO.

The successful candidate for this critical role should possess the legal authorization to work in the Unites States and will be an experienced strategic leader with hands-on mentality that has the ability to develop and implement new ideas and programs to bring HR to the next level.

Principal responsibilities

  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, compliance, and labor relations.
  • Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
  • Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization value
  • Ability to work closely with international counterparts to limit workplace issues due to the multicultural nature of the business
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in HR, Business or OD required/Masters’ preferred
  • Human resources certification (like PHP, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Over 8 years’ experience in a HR leadership function with a large international company
  • Thorough experience in dealing with unions and manufacturing plans preferred (like production, logistics, warehouse)
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation, regulations and labor market
  • Experienced in leading global/regional HR projects and programs
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Leads, manages, coaches, and develops the HR team

Salary: $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 /year
