Job Description

Project Manager (Job Opening 456330) – Project Manager supports the NCI Alliance Foundation grant, the Alliance Standardized Translational Omics Resource project. Responsible for leading the initiation, planning, execution and closure phases of the project life cycle for all related projects involving multiple technologies, multiple systems, business units and stakeholders. Performs the essential functions required to ensure consistent, quality, successful delivery of assigned projects, while managing competing demands of scope, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholder expectations; Troubleshoots issues as they arise to ensure projects stay on track to completion. Interfaces with staff, researchers, leadership, external vendors and collaborators, project PI and other stakeholders. Responsible for establishing and maintaining SOPs, integration of genomics clinical data and downstream analyses, compliance. Formulates/defines project scope objectives in a collaborative manner. Ensures formal acceptance of the project scope; ensures that the scope and stated goals include all the required work to complete the project. Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze needs and functional requirements Performs all aspects of schedule management to determine planned start and finished dates and baselines the project activities. Tracks and manages project schedules to ensure delivery of critical milestones. Tracks and reports project progress and project team performance, risk and issues to project leaders. Performs most aspects of communication management for the program/project; develops communication plans, messages, and makes project-related presentations to various audiences (internal and external).

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required. experience with translational research and/or IT, preferably in higher education desired; ability to set appropriate priorities to effect timely completion of numerous concurrent tasks & projects desired; working ability to gather & analyze client business needs/functional requirements and translate into technical requirements & design desired. Strong organizational skills and oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present and explain technical information desired.
