The Project Manager (PM) works in the Matagorda Technical department. The individual reports to the Capital Projects Manager for the Matagorda site. The PM will manage capital projects up to $10MM. This position will provide support for capital projects throughout the Matagorda, Victoria, and Chocolate Bayou sites.


Roles & Responsibilities
  • Employ the company’s Project Management Process (PMP) and comply with company standards in the execution of capital projects
  • Lead and manage definition of project, scope development, and front-end engineering in support of the project objectives
  • Manage and lead multi-discipline project teams, including company and contract personnel, in resolution of technical and commercial issues
  • Prepare and implement project execution plans and develop cost effective contracting strategies
  • Manage project cost and schedule controls, project reporting and funding for projects
  • Prepare and present project updates to senior management on a routine basis
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Identify, analyze, and manage risk on projects
  • Prepare and implement project execution plans
  • Support the site in meeting safety, reliability and production targets
  • Drive implementation of the Project Management Process
  • Deliver GoalZERO HSE performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor involvement and management systems.
  • Ensure adherence to company management systems supporting Process Safety
  • Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards
  • Ensure that Code of Conduct and all other LyondellBasell policies are consistently followed and administered
Min. Qualifications
  • BS degree in engineering or technical field (Preferred)
  • Relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment as a project manager preferred
  • Strong personal leadership skills
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
