Job Summary
The role integrates HR generalist/HR Business Partner experience and knowledge of CHOP with strategic execution to inform strategy development for key people initiatives (employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning). Managing the governance, process changes and overall administration through collaboration with Human Resources Business Partners in order to meaningfully integrate throughout the enterprise. The role requires the ability to prioritize, think strategically, and to influence without authority, The incumbent must possess strong knowledge of CHOP culture and operations in order to anticipate challenges and and prepare appropriate solutions based on unique department needs.
Job Responsibilities
Engagement
Drives the Engagement process from beginning to end:
- Partners with vendor, business partner and leadership to confirm standard and custom question considerations
- Organizes and coordinates in partnership with Business Partner team a well thought through mapping process
- Accountable for a communication strategy that drives participation
- Partners with HR Business Partner leadership to determine reliable assessment and interpretation process
- Stays connected to best practices on engagement action planning and with stakeholder input communicates strategy
- Serves as point of contact for employee engagement vendor needs
- Translates strategy to facilitate prioritization, planning and implementation of plans that support CHOP’s culture and mission.
- Project manages the implementation of employee engagement action planning strategies for the business partner team and organization.
- Acts as a consultant to business partner and department leaders in delivering HR recommendations that support desired culture.
- Provides enterprise level metrics and reports and with support of HR leadership analyzes data and shares trends.
- Delivers on ad-hoc data trend report requests from business partner.
- Assesses trends in survey, performance management, employee relation date to identify and connect themes. Presents themes to HR leadership to support determination of service delivery prioritization in training, interventions or process/policy changes.
Performance Management
- Plans and drives annual calendar for performance management initiatives
- Ensures strong communication plan is in place and implemented
- Partners with HR Thought Leaders on trends and best practice enhancements for the coming year
- Coordinates and manages related work teams to ensure success of program

Succession Planning and Talent Management
- Plans and drives annual calendar for Succession Planning and Talent Management efforts
- Ensures strong communication plan is in place and implemented
- Partners with HR Thought Leaders on trends and best practice enhancements for the coming year to drive towards enhanced talent mobility
- Coordinates related work teams to ensure success of program
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensures effective and efficient governance processes, including setting the annual review calendar
- Leads all aspects of program administration (e.g., development of annual report, website, communications, etc)
- Uses an agile consulting and design process that involves key stakeholders in rapidly creating high-level proposals that informs decisions about “building versus buying” learning programs
- Conduct benchmarking to identify best-in-class performance management, employee engagement, and workforce management approaches, programs, processes, and tools.
- In partnership and at the request of business partner services advise and assist frontline, middle and senior leadership in aligning departmental, unit and role-based learning and performance strategies with organizational goals and strategic objectives
- Acts as project manager for other key HR related enterprise needs
- Partner with internal service organizations, including Business Partner Services, Strategic Talent Management & Learning, Center for Quality Improvement (CQI), Office of Safety and Medical Operations (OSMO), and others to identify learning and performance opportunities; and, link program outcomes to key enterprise drivers (e.g. patient safety, clinical outcomes, employee turnover, etc.).
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Required Education and Experience
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience: At least seven (7) years in related professional experience
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
SHRM certification and PMP Certification
Preferred Education: Master’s degree
Additional Technical Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of all human resource functions;
- Effective communication and human relation skills required.
- Experience influencing and running projects in a complex organization with competing priorities
- Critical thinking, decision-making and relationship building skills; experience in
- Conflict resolution and basic business acumen (including planning) skills.
- Detail oriented
- Model a flexible attitude and approach to achieving outcomes; able to adapt and shift gears against pace and context shifts, as well as navigate ambiguous, sometimes competing agendas
- Excellent relationship builder with highly collaborative and inclusive approach
- Manage multiple projects using staff and matrixed resources
- Experience as an HR Business Partner preferred.
