Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; three years of experience in materials management, inventory control or warehouse management, including one year of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of principles and practices of automated inventory control, purchasing, distribution, and materials management. Ability to formulate and execute logistical plans and procedures to ensure quality control of products and services; to maintain inventory records; to perform mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions without choice or variety; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Serves as a member of the Building & Grounds Environmental Health and Safety Team. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.

Duties

Supervises and coordinates inventory service activities, which include ordering, receiving, storing, handling, inventorying, and disbursing a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and other articles. Orders and purchases supplies, materials and equipment; tracks and coordinates movement, acquisition, and disposition of supplies, materials and equipment for all shops within Building & Grounds. Operates a forklift to move inventory. Maintains computerized record-keeping systems, compares inventory records with sales orders, invoices and requisitions to verify accuracy and receipt, and investigates discrepancies. Supervises, trains and evaluates the work of staff engaged in logistics support operations. Performs specialized handling activities such as assembling, inspecting, displaying, demonstrating, and preparing equipment/materials/parts for proper operation, use, or issue. Monitors work flow; identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures. Implements safety procedures and standards in inventory/warehouse operations. Maintains and prepares a variety of reports such as inventory usage, levels, and costs, disposal records, and specification and condition verification reports. Perform other work as required.
