Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

Job title: Events Manager.

We are looking for an enthusiastic customer-oriented self-starter, with excellent organizational skills and a good eye for detail. As an Events Manager in the Embassy of Afghanistan, the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and managing events inside Embassy grounds, Ambassador’s Residence, and outside locations. The Events Manager will be in close cooperation with the Chief of Staff and Administration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with colleagues in the Embassy to identify opportunities for events;
  • Managing the Events Calendar in coordination with Chief of Staff and Administration
  • Serve as event project manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: pre-event consultation and planning, venue selection, vendor management, agenda development and show flow, printing and shipping, budget management, prediction of regular events, event staffing, on-site event management, event follow-up and reporting.
  • Coordinate with the protocol section, the protocol related issue of the events.
  • Provide cover for Chief of Staff to the Ambassador.
  • Assist in building the event strategy and event goals to ensure event success.
  • Track and monitor response of all executed efforts; make contingency plans where necessary to meet attendee and other target goals.
  • Employ data analytics to effectively target event sponsors and attendees.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to work effectively within a team;
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with solid communication skills to persons at all levels (both internal and external partners);
  • Excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to plan and prioritize tasks;
  • A proven ability to anticipate and solve problems and pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage budgets and report event costs to management team;
  • Excellent IT Skills, in particular with Microsoft Office Excel and Creative Software.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Previous Events Management experience;
  • Previous Office Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business, Political Science or relevant field

Other benefits and conditions of employment

The successful candidate will be offered a one-year contract after a three month trial period. The salary for this position is $3000 gross per month, based on a working week of 36 hours.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States. Please note that The Embassy is not a tax withholding employer. Consequently staff members are responsible for paying their own income tax and social security on the gross salary received.

The successful candidate will undergo a professional background check; any job offer is also provisional to a successful security clearance check.
