The Dean of University College/Associate Vice President of Student Success is charged with developing, leading and overseeing the universityâs comprehensive approach to student retention and success. The Dean/AVP is responsible for designing, implementing, and providing on-going support for University-level efforts that enhance the undergraduate experience and that meaningfully promote equity, access and inclusion. The Dean/AVP will also coordinate the development and implementation of academic practices, policies and procedures that ensure an integrated student experience for each undergraduate. The person in this position will collaborate broadly with units from across campus in service of these efforts.
University College is made up of the following academic and student support units: Advising and Student Transitions, First Year and Transfer Experience, Financial Aid, the University Honors Program, Placement Testing, Academic Appeals and Probation, and the Department of Academic Support, which includes the Academic Learning Center and the Math Skills Center.
University College plays an integral role in St. Cloud State Universityâs Strategic Enrollment Management division at the same time it maintains strong ties to Academic Affairs and Student Life and Development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD, EDD, or other comparable terminal degree
- 3 or more years of progressive leadership experience in higher education
- Experience developing comprehensive strategic plans to support student success
- Experience developing assessment and evaluation criteria to ensure academic program success
- Experience collaborating with academic and service units/departments across a higher education campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with emerging student retention strategies and technology
- Experience as a department chair, AVP, dean, or director in a higher education setting
- Experience with personnel development
