Responsibilities
The Professional Practice Analyst & Project Manager, works in partnership with the Center for Nursing
Excellence Leadership and the Chief Nurse Executives to design, implement, standardize, and sustain
system structures and processes supporting excellence in professional practice including but not limited to
clinical quality, evidence-based nursing practice, and journeys to excellence. This role is responsible for
system strategic oversight, including efficiency and effectiveness related work, associated with nursing
projects; National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) data retrieval (clinical and related
business), data cleaning, analysis and upload; building and sustaining a progressive unit to system level
data report supporting Magnet®, Pathways® and unit level specialty designations, including projection
analytics for readiness submission. Serve as a resource throughout the system as we strive to achieve
Magnet® designation as set forth by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC). Provides direction
for use of technology to capture data related to nursing projects. Creates systems and methodologies to
support use of evidence in practice. Proactively pursues opportunities for improvement and encourages
and inspires innovation.
Supports the WellStar Professional Nursing Practice Model and principles for nursing excellence.
Collaborates with key stakeholders in attaining WellStar’s Nursing’s mission, vision, philosophy and
strategic targets and goals.
He/She supports the quality and safety initiatives within the nursing division with a focus on continuous
improvement and innovative practice. He/she will partner with other system leaders to ensure WellStar’s
quality requirements translate to nursing specific practices and outcomes.
This position reports to the Executive Director for Professional Nursing Practice of WellStar and is a key
role in delivering on our commitment to deliver world-class healthcare.
As a member of the patient services team, it is expected the individual upholds the voice of the patient,
system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education:
Must hold a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Project Management or a
related field.
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification:
LEAN, Six Sigma (required). Project Management certification (preferred)
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare environment with minimum of 3 years’ experience in
quality and/or data analytics. Experience using NDNQI database, leading nurse and multidisciplinary
teams in clinical and non-clinical system-wide improvement projects. Minimum of 2 years’ experience
working at a Magnet designated or Magnet journey hospital or healthcare system.
Experience leading organization-wide projects. Demonstrated problem-solving ability. Evidence of ability
to successfully lead teams to achieve break through results in quality, safety and care delivery. Lean/Six
Sigma experience required. Ability to influence positive and sustainable change in an urgent and fastpaced
environment required.
Required Minimum Skills:
Proven experience in application of performance improvement models, project management, and use of
electronic medical records (EPIC preferred). Exceptional communication skills and team building skills
within a diverse group of departments. Knowledge and experience with Excel, Action OI, NDNQI, Qualtrics,
Survey Monkey and Kronos (required). Knowledge and experience with microstrategy/or other data
warehouse mining program (preferred).
