The Indirect Category Lead will be a pivotal member of the Global Strategic Procurement group, supporting the team’s tactical and strategic direction. The role requires someone who can apply her/his experience while adapting what they know to new circumstances. The Category Lead must be comfortable with being in a high demand environment handling not only ‘core’ responsibilities but supporting other team tasks as they arise. This individual should be growth-oriented, capable of moving up to the next level and willing to make the investment. We rely on the Category Lead to be analytical and detail-oriented, yet have a sense of vision and possibilities for what this role—and this team—could be. Strong interpersonal skills are highly valued attributes. – Achieve world-class results in quality, delivery, cost, and working capital – Gather and analyze spend and price data, identifying opportunities for negotiations based on company data – Stakeholder management through the Strategic Sourcing process – Data analysis of spend categories, RFP results and post-negotiation optimization – Negotiation and implementation of pricing agreements, managing and improving supplier performance – Leading Workshops and Kaizens, training acquisition associates on Beckman Coulter sourcing tools & processes – Ensure usage of Danaher’s preferred supplier contracts in order to maximize QDCI results and to comply with respective policies – Develop, integrate and manage preferred suppliers primarily for goods and services within the Sales/Service/Business Services/Legal functions to meet global requirements – Provide coaching, mentoring and support to commodity team members – Champion Commodity Team initiatives throughout Beckman Coulter – Participate in teams led by corporate commodity leaders, as appropriate – Actively participate in preparation and executing corporate-wide bid packages – Establish supplier performance data requirements – A Minimum of a BS/BA Degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience OR a Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience is required. – Strong analytical ability and competence with Excel and other MS Office tools – Demonstrable record of “passion and drive” working within a target-driven environment – Familiarity with the Strategic Sourcing methodologies, Procurement systems and procedures.
