The Human Resources Manager mentors and manages staff throughout the company and manages all Human Resources (HR) processes, including recruiting, hiring, and training new employees and managing benefits and retirement plans. He or she ensures compliance with all HR policies and federal, state, and local regulations and requirements while also responsible to overall leadership and execution of all Payroll responsibilities.
Directly oversees payroll function for the entire group; ensures compliance of compensations plans and payroll practices with state, federal and local wage and hour laws. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance. Must be able to perform various accounting tasks. Prefer ADP experience as well as strong Excel skills.
The ideal candidate has a degree in Human Resources or a related field, at least five years of progressively responsible experience in HR with some supervisory or management responsibilities, and certification in one or more HR specializations. He or she must have a strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and excellent computer, internet, and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to preserve confidential information required.
Previous automotive HR and/or Payroll experience a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Oversees the administration of compensation and benefits
- Directs all payroll operations for eight Dealerships and Corporate Headquarters.
- Ensures employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health
- Develops and documents company policies
- Manages all required paperwork and records and prepares documentation (forms, reports, etc.) when needed
- Works directly with Dealership managers regarding personnel matters.
- Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the entire group.
- Supervises HR and payroll staff members.
- Oversees worker’s compensation process for the group.
- Conducts investigations into employee complaints when necessary; takes appropriate action based on findings.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree in Human Resources or a related field
- Five years of relevant experience required
- Certification in one or more HR specializations
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Experience in supervising and managing staff
- Communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the company
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Able to handle conflict situations professionally and with courtesy
- Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism and discretion
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with HRIS systems
