We are looking for a talented and driven Events Marketing Director to join the Corporate Marketing team. The Events Marketing Director will be responsible for the overall P&L for events globally, for developing the company’s event strategy and for overseeing the delivery of our events (which are primarily US and UK based). Events include conferences and trade shows, peer-to-peer networking events, roundtable discussions, Analyst Relation sponsored events, Customer Advisory Boards and awards dinners.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years’ experience in a similar role and be a strategic thinker with super-strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple projects. They will be based either in the UK (London) or the US (New York) and some travel will be required.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive event strategy that is aligned to business objectives and encompasses both 3rd party and 1st party events
- Work closely with sales and marketing leadership to identify event opportunities that will have a high impact on top, middle and bottom of funnel
- Research and coordinate sponsorship of relevant 3rd party event attendance
- Own and coordinate 1E flagship events including our ‘Customer Advisory Board’
- Build and maintain strong relationships with our community of Influencers (Microsoft MVPs)
- Motivate and lead a small team of Event Marketing professionals
- Efficiently manage the allocated Event Marketing budget
- Work closely with corporate marketing team to promote events across every available channe
- Bring a creative mind to theming of events and event structure
- Be metrics driven with a keen eye on revenue outcomes rather than just MQL generation
- Support a vibrant customer marketing program that is a source of customer reference stories, sales references and customer speakers
Required skills and experience
- Extensive expertise with conferences and events and a strong track record in senior management roles within events functions
- Previous experience of P&L responsibility in growth driven events environments
- Proven record in delivery event ROI and strong analytical skills
- Demonstrable strong leadership and managerial abilities
- Degree level qualification in Business, Marketing or Technology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An understanding of the enterprise information technology software market preferred
- Team player, collaboration and leadership skills, and great interpersonal skills
