The Director of Behavioral Health Services will be responsible for a 24 bed inpatient unit that accepts voluntary and involuntary patients, a 5 bed Behavioral Health Unit in the Emergency Department and a Partial Hospitalization Program. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues in Nursing, Security and the Medical Staff in developing strategies (operational, clinical practice & educational) to ensure the safety and appropriate nursing care of behavioral health patients within the organization outside of the Behavioral Health Division. General Summary
Under limited supervision, the director of Nursing is a registered Nurse who is vested with 24 hour accountability for ensuring safe, effective and appropriate patient care throughout a clinical division. The director of Nursing serves as a link between the Hospital’s Vision and the clinical division, and is a leader who creates a vision of how things can be better; models constructive behaviors, facilitates change, improvement, and problem solving; coaches employees in performance enhancement; and teaches skills and techniques need to achieving excellence. The director of Nursing has direct access to support service resources essential to nursing and patient care, and maintains line authority over divisional nurse managers, Nursing supervisors, and Nursing management support staff, as assigned. The director of Nursing may provide hospital administrative coverage in the absence of administration at a higher level.

What You Need to Be Successful:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, Master’s Degree required and professional certification preferred.
- Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
- Five years of progressive management experience in the field of hospital nursing and proven administrative ability.
