The Position

Position provides field coaching, mentorship and management to the field-based Health Outcomes Liaisons, and develops and implements strategies that: ensure clinical HEOR and Value Communication engagement effort with Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) thought leaders embedded within existing accounts, particularly Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) and National Accounts, and HEOR researchers at strategically aligned Centers of Excellence (COE)s; strategic alignment and facilitation of Real World Evidence (RWE) research opportunities through HEOR Partnerships; ensure personal development of the team; and ensure coordination and cooperation between the field-based Medical Account Director team and other Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) units/personnel.


Relationships

Position reports to Executive Director. Has direct supervisory responsibility for field-based Medical Liaisons in designated clinical network. Works closely with the home office HEOR, Medical/Clinical, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Human Resources, and field personnel. External relationships include Strategic, Regional and Local Managed Market accounts, Integrated Health Systems, Real World Evidence Researchers, self-insured employers, key payers and critical customers including HEOR key opinion leaders (KOLs), RWE Researchers, Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors and other key influencers who are utilizing Pharmacoeconomics, RWE, and data analytics to drive population health decisions.


Essential Functions

  • Act at a manager and strategic leader for Health Outcomes Liaison Team focused on all HEOR KOLs, Influencers, and Decision Makers in targeted Payor Accounts and IDNs ensuring engagement strategies are in place and that those strategies have been developed in collaboration and in alignment with necessary internal stakeholders
  • Implement team performance standards that drive optimization of key customer relationships, specifically with the provision of timely and up to date HEOR information relevant to Novo Nordisk’s products or RWE research activities, in an effort to increase awareness and improve competitive positioning of NNI products
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and execution of HEOR medical engagement strategies aligned to NNI priorities and specific to the HEOR customer segment targeted to ultimately ensure that payors and other population health decision makers have the information to make medically informed decisions regarding NNI products. Maintain personally, and within the team, a high level of clinical and HEOR knowledge in order to discuss products and portfolio with stakeholders
  • Integrates field-based HEOR engagement and team leading responsibilities for Field Medical Affairs (FMA); contributes to the representation of FMA throughout the US affiliate and globally if needed; responsible for administrative and management support of field-based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI)
  • Responsible for administrative and management support of field-based FMA Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Assignments are objective oriented. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect the work unit. Develops budgets, schedules, and performance standards
  • Ensure the team acts in complete and total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies
  • Serve as a leader and expert within the team, representing clinical and HEOR viewpoints and strategies in meetings with senior and executive level collaborative partners
  • Ensure coordination and cooperation between the various NNI field-based teams and other NNI units, with a focus on providing the right input to key internal stakeholders regarding account activities
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders, particularly the HEOR, Evidence Generation Team, and Medical Product Teams, in the development and execution of strategies, budgets, and communication of HEOR evidence and real world data within targeted accounts and with identified HEOR customers
  • Anticipate opportunities within the marketplace and ensure optimal positioning of HEOR capabilities, programs and/or studies to support HEOR communication, RWE stakeholder engagement, and research collaborations with key customers


Physical Requirements

50-75% overnight travel required. Home based position located anywhere in the United States.


Development of People

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.


Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree (M.D., PharmD., PhD), with advanced professional training in HEOR/RWE required
  • A minimum of 6 years progressive pharmaceutical industry and/or HEOR experience required; healthcare system and/or payer experience strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of field liaison management or other directly related relevant managerial experience required
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment required
  • A strong knowledge of clinical development/operations, research conduct, and working knowledge of FDA requirements required A strong knowledge of health economics and demonstrated ability to conduct value-based discussions with key HEOR and population health customers required
  • Experience in engaging HEOR experts, conducting RWE research, and utilizing modern rapid-cycle data analytic platforms strongly required
  • A thorough understanding of population health, HEOR, data analytics and decision-making process across various account channels required
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, strategic influencing, initiative ability, project management, internal and external relationship development, analytical/problem solving skills, and written/verbal communication skills required
  • Demonstrated flexibility in technical expertise across disease areas preferred
  • Experience in account management and/or project management required
  • Expert technical depth in HEOR, RWE, and Data Analytics required
  • Knowledge of information/technology systems preferred
  • Work experience in health economics and outcomes research required
