The SF Credit Risk Transfer Director role is based in McLean, VA, and will be responsible for Freddie Mac’s Single-Family Credit Risk Transfer Mortgage Insurance portfolio. This position will report directly to the Vice President, Credit Risk Transfer.
Your work falls into three primary categories:
External Relations
- Negotiate new policy terms and seek clarification of existing policies.
- Maximize certainty and payment of Mortgage Insurance (MI) claims.
- Seek new opportunities with MI partners with mutual benefits for Freddie Mac, the MI, and the U.S. Housing System.
- Improve technologies in the MI process. Ensure compliance with PMIERs requirements. Some travel required.
Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with multiple internal groups including: Counterparty risk management; Mortgage Insurance Operations; Underwriting Policy; and Servicing Policy to ensure MI policies are executed in a Safe and Sound manner. Work with internal partners as the advocate for MI related issues. Facilitate the completion of routine MI related activities. Engage senior management as needed.
Leadership
- Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to staff.
- Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
- Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
- Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to relationship.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of related experience and 4+ years management experience
- College Degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Single-Family GSE business
- Experience with the Mortgage Insurance business
- Quantitative skills specific to single-family mortgage credit
- Strong consultation and communication skills
