Job Summary
Blessed Extracts is seeking a Compliance Manager to join our dynamic team in Davis, CA.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring our facilities and products remain compliant under state law, and will work closely with the Director of Operations. A successful candidate has the ability to apply, interpret, audit and direct compliance requirements for various departments, write and update SOPs, and has experience monitoring, investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, audit and file required paperwork from all departments to ensure compliance with state laws and company policies
  • Collect and file all signed manifests
  • Oversee manufacturing and distribution activities to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Confirm that all new packaging and labeling is compliant prior to distribution, keeping packaging and labeling mistakes under 2 percent
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and general policies and procedures
  • Perform regular inspections and interact with all departments against SOPs to confirm compliance with regulations, ensure optimal compliance performance and provide feedback to the Director of Operations and departments.
  • Communicate and/or provide staff training on new SOPs, policies and procedures, and any changes in compliance
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues and concerns
  • Attend Weekly Staff Meetings and report on department updates, issues and goals
  • Work with the state and municipality’s regulating agencies to understand and implement the laws, within our manufacturing and distribution departments and make sure that the appropriate personnel are kept appraised of the requirements
  • Keep up with regularly changing rules and regulations and ensure understanding and implementation throughout the company.
  • Review all inventory reports and files of raw and processed materials, bulk products and retail-ready products to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Monitor inventory losses and develop processes and procedures to reduce loss in all departments
  • Monitor receipt of all goods with respect to packaging, labeling and coding to make sure the product is correct, in good condition and ready-for-sale, and to coordinate any damaged, contaminated or incorrect product. Also coordinate any damaged, contaminated or incorrect product and ensure proper handling and disposal or return of aforementioned product
  • Ensure all inventory is completed in all departments, investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies
  • Keep inventory mistakes and errors under 2 percent
  • Collaborate with and make recommendations to the Director of Operations for continual improvement of policies and procedures

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • Experience with compliance, ideally in the regulated CA cannabis industry or another regulated industry such as alcohol, tobacco or manufacturing
  • Must have the ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills; the ability to either predict and/or identify and drive problem/issue to resolution in partnership with stakeholders
  • Excellent people and communication skills (verbal and written), with ability to successfully explain complex matters and provide persuasive support for positions with internal stakeholders, outside partners, and to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to successfully manage a high-volume workload with tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Capable of handling confidential information discreetly and professionally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s Degree or better from an accredited college or university (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of all California cannabis regulations
